Passing on the Faith An Orientation for Parents of Children in Catholic Schools and Parish Catechetical Programs

What Do Catholic Parents Do? The parent(s) and their children participate in the weekly Eucharist. The parent(s) pray with their children and teach them to pray. They provide a home that cultivates a Catholic imagination. They show their children that service in the name of Jesus is central to the Catholic way of life.

What Do Parents Do? The Parent(s) and their children participate in the weekly Eucharistic liturgy.

Discussion Questions Participating in the Eucharist We ask: –Y–Your own participation in the Eucharist –T–Teach the prayers and responses of the liturgy –C–Commitment to bring child to the Eucharist regularly Of the three requests which one do you think parents will have the most difficulty with and why? What would be the best ways for the parish to assist parents in fulfilling these requests?
