Help us to grow in our faith… Rationale –Adult Christian formation: Our members are seekers; they want strong faith formation all year round. We need learning experiences that open our hearts to God and equip us for ministry. –Programs for children and youth: One third of Calvary households have children. We need better programs if they are to be nurtured and supported and grow in faith within our church family. –Corporate worship: Our members want worship that is varied, challenging and inspiring. Attendance at our worship services has declined by 15% since We need meaningful worship that inspires us and prepares us to serve.

Prepare us to do ministry… Rationale –Ministry structure: Calvary’s ministry structure has become ineffective and does not meet our needs today; it must be structured for relevancy, managed for accountability and regularly re-examined. –Engagement and involvement: Calvary’s adult and youth membership wants to be more involved but must be led to full engagement in and support of the ministries. –Energy and participation: Broad participation in ministries will energize the congregation through the strong parish relationships that are created, the individual faith that is strengthened through action and the visibility of God’s love to all.

Guide us in the use of our inheritance… Rationale –Blessings: God has blessed Calvary throughout our urban parish’s rich history of generosity and service to others. –Facilities and Endowment: We have an abundance of property and an endowment fund to help ensure Calvary’s financial stability. –Stewardship: We want to be even more faithful stewards of our inheritance; guide us in ensuring that Calvary’s property is better cared for and fully utilized. –Revenue: We want to ensure that additional funding from a broader base of resources is secured.

Bind us together… Rationale: –Holy Spirit: We feel that the Holy Spirit is at work within our midst, healing our wounds and filling us with excitement about Calvary’s mission. –Connection: In response to the survey question “how connected do you feel to others at Calvary”, over half indicated that they felt only somewhat connected or disconnected. –History: The departure of two rectors left some in the congregation feeling suspicion toward the vestry and other parishioners.

A prayer for our future… Heavenly Father, set our hearts on fire so that we may do thy will. Help us to grow in our faith. Prepare us to do ministry. Guide us in the use of our inheritance. And bind us together more closely in thy Spirit, that we may become the Body of Christ on earth. Amen.
