The Start The plague did not spread once, but many times over centuries. The plague also referred to as as the Black Death is said to have started in China. Cause

Cause The plague bacteria, Yersinia pestis, is transmitted to humans when they are bitten by fleas/rats that have previously fed on infected animals. It spreads the disease by regurgitating the infected blood into healthy rodents. When the rats start to die off, fleas swarm the remaining rodents. Finally, when all the rats have died, the fleas turn to people.

Spread

Symptoms The most commonly noted symptom was buboes in the groin, the neck and armpits, which oozed pus and bled when opened. [ [ Internal bleeding in the later stages formed the black spots/boils under the skin, from hemorrhaging, that gave it the name Black Death.

Treatment When infected you need immediate treatment and should be given antibiotics within 24 hours of the first symptoms to prevent death. Other treatments include intravenous fluids, and respiratory support. People who have had contact with anyone infected by pneumonic plague are given prophylactic antibiotics.

Bubonic Bubonic means “Grion” in greek. It is a flea born infection. in the 14th century and killed an estimated 25 million people, or 30–60% of the European population. Treatment, the bubonic plague kills about two thirds of infected humans within 4 days.

Doctor costume The mask had glass openings for the eyes and a curved beak shaped like that of a bird. The beak could hold dried flowers herbs to keep The bad smells away. And used A stick so as to not touch the Infected.

EUROPE Europe was hit the hardest by the plague killing 30%-60% of its total population. It took 150 years for Europes population to recover.

Death Toll At the end of the 1350’s nearly two and a half million people were dead. Church yards were full with bodies.
