Bashar al-Assad took office after his father, the previous leader of Syria, died. He started implementing a Democracy, moving towards modern technology such as computers and IPhones. There are even a few Wi-Fi hotspots in Syria. However, nothing much else had changed. And now, many countries want al-Assad to resign, not just his own people. Bashar has refused to resign and political opponents are killed, tortured, and imprisoned regularly.
