Directive 96/61/EC on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Aim and objectives of the Directive §To achieve integrated prevention and control of pollution arising from certain activities by means of measures to prevent or to reduce emissions from industrial facilities into air, water and land. §To establish a permit-issuing system for all the activities covered by the Directive. Transposition into the Bulgarian legislation §Environmental Protection Act and its Amendments; §Regulation 4 on Environmental Impact Assessment.

Directive 96/61/EC on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Compliance Analysis The existing legislative acts: §Partly transpose also the requirements of Regulation 1836/93/EEC on Eco- management and Audit Schemes (EMAS). §Consider the existing state of environment for certain industrial plants. §Identify the principle emissions and sources of pollution. §Establish programmes for complying with the requirements of the European environmental legislation. §Establish plans for self-monitoring. §Elaborate action plans in case of major accident hazards. §Set up conditions for keeping the activities of certain industrial plants and for control of these conditions.
