25 th October 1890 Dear diary, we don’t have enough food and here it’s very cold. Fortunately I met a good friend. Her name is Maria and she is from Italy as well. We are arriving, I can see Lady Liberty and I can’t explain my feeling in this moment. I hope I will have a better life here.. 30 th October 1890

30th October th Dicember 1890 Dear diary, I’m on Ellis Island, I had a medical control, meanwhile my husband ‘s past was discovered, so he was forced to come back. I don’t kwon what I should do. Maria is helping me, now we are going to New Orleans by train.

Dear diary, We are in New Orleans, Maria told meshe has some friends here. I hope that they will be able to help me. I have great news. Maria’s friends gave me a job. I’m very happy of that. 3 rd December th December 1890

Dear diary, During the last months I ‘worked hard so I didn’t have enough time to write. I met a fantastic man,now I’m really happy. I experienced that to live in the USA for an immigrant is really difficult.,but you can get a lot of opportunities. Now, Iearned some money and I decided to open a house to help and support new immigrants and to offer them a better accomodation. I know how they can feel… You are alone… Without any friend… You don’t know the language… And you feel so weak… But you, you must stand up and face the new world… Don’t be afraid of discrimination… Nobody could understand what you felt before arriving… Hope for all the immigrants a better life.
