Analyzing the Prompt You will need to decide in which genre to write, using the information given to you in the prompt. The good news is that certain words in the prompt will tell you how you need to write your paper. You will also notice the prompt has three parts: Read Think Write This is the one you need to look at!!! Don’t worry about the first two parts. The ‘READ’ and ‘THINK’ statements are only meant to help explain the prompt in a different way. They are meant to be inspirational. Don’t get distracted by the ‘READ’ and ‘THINK’ portions. Think carefully about this statement: Water has an essential role in our ecosystem and our daily lives but is not always readily available. These methods increased erosion and decreased the soil’s ability to hold moisture. In the years that followed, the Great Plains faced a widespread drought. This combination caused severe problems throughout the region. In the absence of rain, farms were hit with dust storms which blackened the sky and damaged millions of acres of farmland. Families were forced to leave their land and homes behind.
