Carers Partnership Board Having your say

What we are Carers Partnership Board Brings together a range of people including carers, representatives from the Council, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group, Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust, Job centre plus, Elected member, Health Watch, Carers Centre and a range of carer providers.

Carers Strategy Eight priorities Information, Advice and Support Planning for the Future Promotion of well being Time for yourself Having your say Addressing diverse needs A life outside caring Feeling safe and secure

We meet every two months at ‘The Place’ Oakengates. Our purpose is to contribute to the delivery of the eight priorities within the Carers Strategy. Carers have the opportunity to influence current and future policies, practices and service delivery. Anyone can come and sit and observe the meetings, they are also given a chance to have their say. You can also any questions you might want raising to Louise Langham What we do

Carers Forum The Carers Forum has strong links to the Carers Partnership Board, several members of the Board sit on the Forum Advisory Group. Health Roundtable We also have strong links to Health as the Chair of the Board (Louise Langham) is the Carers Representative on the Health Roundtable which is a Sub Group of the Clinical Commissioning Group (formerly PCT). Its members include patient representatives, Healthwatch and volunteers from local community and voluntary organisations. The Roundtable works alongside the CCG to ensure patients are able to influence CCG decisions. Carers Champions in Doctor’s Surgeries Our Vice Chair, Tracey Wilson is a Carers Champion in her local Surgery’s Patient Participation Group and promotes this throughout all GP Surgeries in the Borough. Our Links

Current Projects and Sub Groups Local Carers Champions Tracey Wilson has led on this project in collaboration with the Carers Centre, NHS, Job Centre Plus, Impact, Red Cross and Commissioning to produce a Leaflet to encourage carers champions in workplaces etc. For information contact Carers Centre or A Life Outside Caring Denise Jackson, a member of the Carers Partnership Board leads on this. This group looks at opportunities for carers and former carers for employment, education and training, housing and finance. This all serves to promote Health & Wellbeing. Healthy Eating/Cookery Workshops Led by Louise Langham, these workshops promote practical skills, budgeting, food hygiene and nutrition in a friendly setting for carers of all ages.

Other projects are planned for the future with the aim of delivering the eight priorities which reflect the Carers Strategy. For example we have plans for the following: Identifying carers who are marginalised or isolated. Developing local carer champions. Working with Princes Royal Hospital to raise Carer and Dementia care awareness. Ensuring sustainable carer contribution on Partnership Board and working groups. Most importantly we value carers’ and former carers’ views in shaping services. What happens next
