Nocturne Requirements (Element14 discussion on UI) Caregiver 1. Essential - Mobile interface 2. Essential - Some form of user interface 3. Essential - User interface to input in-bed and out of bed times for the alert Option - Ability to add lee way to the alert times Option - The system can learn in-bed and out of bed times 4. Essential - The system will send a meaningful message to that the client is not in, or out of bed Option - The caregiver can asked to be notified of a positive event (that the client is in bed or that the client has got up in the morning). 5. Essential - The server platform will hold the number of the person to be notified in the event of an alert Option - To be able to specify more than person that an alert has occurred 6. Essential - The Caregiver can send an acknowledgement to the system of receipt of the alert message and cancel an alert Option - In the event that the first person on the list does not acknowledge an alert, the system will contact the next person on the list 7. Essential - Ability to disable the alerting system 8. Essential - There will be some form of status check to demonstrate end to end functioning of the system Client end Essential requirements 1. The client will have one fixed location 2. We are only tracking bed occupancy 3. The system will have an uninterruptable power supply 4. There will little or no maintenance or set up 5. There will be some form of external communications link with the carer 6. There will be some form of visual indication of correct operation of the system 7. The reliability of the system will be at least as good as that of the communications link (in respect of sending an alert)

Carer end Requirements/Assumptions (1) User ReqtSystem ReqtSolution ExamplesAssumptions 1. Mobile interface 2. Some form of User Interface 3. User interface to input in-bed and out of bed times for the alert Option - Ability to add lee way to the alert times Mobile device with a User Interface (UI) to store bed IN-OUT time with optional leeway Mobile phones at both Client and Carer ends running suitable Apps There is a “primary” Carer and only this Carer has the ability to set in/out bed times? 4. Essential - The system will send a meaningful message that the client is not in, or out of bed Option - The caregiver can ask to be notified of a positive event (that the client is in bed or that the client has got up in the morning). Hold meaningful voice and/or text message to be sent as an alert. Operate on communications infrastructure that support alert. Sense if client triggers IN/OUT of bed. Compare bed IN time and OUT time with real time for alert Send an alert. Optionally: send different message notifying the carer when their client gets IN/OUT of bed. Mobile phone 3G/4G network Mattress sensor, force sensor, Infrared/movement sensor, Radar sensor Fixed location for client But Carer may not be at home at the time of alert Standard messages will suffice in each case (i.e. not customised by user) Carer and Client end devices browse ExpressoLogic REST server [Note: Definition of the division of functionality between ExpressoLogic REST server and phone apps has not been found on Element14 website] 5. Essential - The server platform will hold the number of the person to be notified in the event of an alert Option - To be able to specify more than person that an alert has occurred Ability to retain one (optionally more than one) phone number to be called to notify event/alert ExpressoLogic server (TBC)Mobile phone of carer is dialled-up and when answered carer hears meaningful message. Carer may also/alternatively be notified by text [Note: What does the dialling of the mobile phone to give alert or status messages?]

Carer end Requirements/Assumptions (2) User ReqtSystem ReqtSolution ExamplesAssumptions 6. Essential - The Caregiver can send an acknowledgement to the system of receipt of the alert message and cancel an alert Option - In the event that the first person on the list does not acknowledge an alert, the system will contact the next person on the list A system alert cancellation facility to be provided for the Carer on their mobile device. If the Carer has not responded [within TB time] the next person on the list is to be contacted ExpressoLogic server (TBC) following an active input by Carer (or successive carers) on their mobile phone For cases where there are a list of Carers, the successively notified carer can cancel the alert 7. Essential - Ability to disable the alerting system The system must have a disable facility ExpressoLogic server (TBC) following an active input by Carer (or successive carers) on their mobile phone This assumes the disable facility can be operated remotely? 8. Essential - There will be some form of status check to demonstrate end to end functioning of the system The system will confirm to the Carer its end-to-end functioning Regular (tick) pulses from the sensor through Clients mobile phone to server to Carer mobile phone demonstrating system is functioning Mobile phones are kept charged – Client phone permanently mains powered.

Client end Requirements/Assumptions User ReqtSystem ReqtSolution ExamplesAssumptions 1. The client will have one fixed location Only monitoring one fixed geographical location 2. We are only tracking bed occupancy Bed occupancy only 3. The system will have an uninterruptable power supply System uninterruptable in the event of mains power failure Internal batteries of mobile phones and wireless sensors. Mobile networks and ExpressoLogic server are UPS backed 4. There will little or no maintenance or set up Little or no maintenance or set up Sensor setup[Soln. dependent]. Apps pre-loaded onto Carer phones? 5. There will be some form of external communications link with the carer System must communicate with Carer Phone on mobile network connecting Carer to ExpressoLogic server. This requirement expands to an end to end communication requirement (bed- sensor to Carer)? 6. There will be some form of visual indication of correct operation of the system System must indicate to Client (or agent) that it is operating correctly Mobile phone app at Client end shows there is a connection with the ExpressoLogic server. Not realisable end-to- end (Carer phone could be off/no signal)? 7. The reliability of the system will be at least as good as that of the communications link (in respect of sending an alert) The system will be at least as good as that of the communications link (in respect of sending an alert) Unrealisable requirement – the prob of failure of phones and server have to be added to prob failure comms.

Proposed System Architecture? Bed occupancy Sensor bed Client device ExpressoLogic Server Carer Mobile (1) Carer Mobile (2) Carer Mobile (3) Mains Chargers
