ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE 6 TH GRADE VISUAL ARTS

ELEMENTS OF ART… 2

LINE  A line is a basic element of art, referring to a continuous mark, made on a surface, by a moving point. 3

SHAPE 4  An enclosed space created by a line.  There are two types of shape:  Organic- free flowing (found in nature, never the exact same)  Geometric- man made (they are symmetrical)

SPACE 5  Distances or areas around, between or within components of art. Positive Space Negative Space

FORM 6  a 3-D geometrical figure. Can hold it, or it would look like you could hold it. (examples: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, etc.) Shape is FLAT and forms are, or appear 3D

COLOR 7  The look of an something in the light. Without light, we wouldn’t have color.

COLOR CONTINUED… 8 Primary Colors:Secondary Colors: -Red -Yellow -Blue -Red + Blue = Violet -Yellow + Red = Orange -Blue + Yellow = Green Complimentary Colors: Are directly across from each other on the color wheel.

VALUE 9  The difference between light and dark in a composition. Tints Shades

TEXTURE 10  the way a 3D work actually feels when touched, or the visual "feel" of a 2D work. Real Texture vs. Simulated Texture

NEW TERMS USED IN THIS PROJECT 11  Horizon Line  Vanishing Point  Guide Lines  Block Letters  Orthogonal  Horizontal Lines  Vertical Lines  Complimentary Colors

HORIZONTAL LINES 12 □ Go from side to side

VERTICAL LINES 13 □ Go from top to bottom

HORIZON LINE 14  a horizontal line across the picture.  Where the sky and the ground meet.

VANISHING POINT 15  The point at which all lines meet. The v.p. is found on the horizon line.

GUIDE LINES 16  Used to help you create your name ___________________________________________ _____________________________________________ Helps give your letters the same height.

ORTHOGONAL 17  The lines that connect the edges of our shape to the v.p.  Give the illusion of depth. REMEMBER to keep your lines PARELLEL to the edge of the shape when you are creating the sides/top or bottom

BLOCK LETTERS No curves Making our letters look like they are a block (3-D) 18

COMPLIMENTARY COLORS Are directly across from each other on the color wheel. Red and _________________________ Blue and _________________________ Yellow and ________________________ 19
