Just as the cell wall of a plant protects the cell, the Great Wall of China protects the Chinese.

Like the fence of an arena keeps everything in the arena, the cell membrane of the cell keeps everything inside the cell.

Just as a traffic cop keeps the cars from crashing into one another, the cytoplasm of a cell keeps the organelles from smashing into each other.

Like the vacuole of a cell stores food and water, a thermos holds food and liquids.

Just as a boss at work would tell her employees to do their jobs, the nucleus of a cell tells the rest of the organelles how to function.

Just as a power plant gives energy to a city, the mitochondria gives energy to the cell.

Like a butcher produces meat which contains proteins the ribosomes of a cell produce protein.

Just as a golgi body transfers waste out of the lysosome, a toilet transfers waste to the sewer.

Just as a chef makes food, the chloroplast makes food or chlorophyll for the cell.

Just as lysosomes deposits waste outside of the cell, the sewer deposits waste in the designated areas.

Just as a subway must go through the underground tunnels, the organelles must travel through the endoplasmic reticulum.
