Biotechnology Objectives for September 8 th, 2010 Analyze methods of infection control Apply correct hand washing techniques through the use of Glo Germ

Handwashing Procedure 1. Remove jewelry 2. Turn faucet on with paper towel, adjust temperature of water to warm and discard towel in trash 3. Wet hands and wrists thoroughly with fingertips pointing down 4. Apply soap to get a lather on hands 5. Put palms of hands together and rub using friction and a circular motion for seconds 6. Put palm of one hand on the back of the other hand, rub together several times and repeat after reversing position of hands

Handwashing Procedure 7. Interlace fingers on both hands and rub them back and forth 8. Clean nails with an orange/cuticle stick and/or hand brush 9. Rinse hands with fingertips pointed downward 10. Dry hands thoroughly, from tips of fingers to wrist, and discard towel 11. Turn faucet off with dry paper towel and discard towel in trash 12. Avoid touching inside of sink
