Some interesting “Peter Facts” Nobody confessed their loyalty to Jesus Christ more boldly and often as Peter

Some interesting “Peter Facts” Nobody was praised and blessed by the Lord, the way that Peter was

BUT HOLD THE PHONE!

Some ‘more’ interesting “Peter Facts” No Disciple is so often rebuked by the Lord as Peter was

Some ‘more’ interesting “Peter Facts” Nobody ever denied the Lord in the Gospels, so forcefully and publicly as Peter did

Some ‘more’ interesting “Peter Facts” Peter is the ONLY Disciple in the Gospels, addressed by the Lord as satan!

Some ‘more’ interesting “Peter Facts” The Lord said harsher things to Peter, than any of the other Disciples

Here’s The Deal!

Peter was real, not imaginary or ideal!

He had ups and downs

That’s Reality!

So often we go from… ‘You can use my boat’ (I’ll give You a chance, God)

So often we go from… ‘At Your Word, I will’ (I’ll do what You say, God)

So often we go from… ‘I’m a sinful man o ’ Lord’ (I’m sinful, You’re Holy, God)

So often we go from… ‘I forsake all & follow You’ (I’m in with both feet, God)

…to thinking we’re gonna walk on water!

ONE BIG PROBLEM! THAT’S NOT LIVING IN REALITY! ONE BIG PROBLEM! THAT’S NOT LIVING IN REALITY!

The REAL Christian Life Ain’t A Walk On The Water!

Matthew 14: And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Matthew 14: But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

Matthew 14: And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

There are still waves, contrary winds, troubled spirits and fear!

There are great highs also… Matthew 14: But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

There are great highs also… Matthew 14: And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

The REAL Christian Life Is A “Faith Walk!”

Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The REAL Christian Life Is Serving God And Others

John 13: He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

John 13: Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

John 13: Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

John 13: Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

John 13: So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

Peter said: “You will never wash my feet!” We all would have probably said that Jesus humbled Himself and washed their feet We all would have probably said that Jesus humbled Himself and washed their feet

THE SERVANT IS NOT GREATER THAN THE LORD John 13: Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

THE SERVANT IS NOT GREATER THAN THE LORD John 13: For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

The REAL Christian Life Is About God’s Purposes, Not Yours

John 13: When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

John 13: He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 13: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

John 13: And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

John 13: And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

PETER WAS RIGHT ON!

Matthew 16: Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Matthew 16: From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Matthew 16: Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

PETER WAS WAY OFF!

Isaiah 55:8-9 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 55:8-9 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
