It is important to know which brand of freezer bag is the strongest because you want the best quality bag for your frozen foods.

The more expensive the brand of freezer bag, the stronger it will be. Reason: The higher the price, the higher the quality.

$0.16 / bag $.10 / bag $0.09 / bag $1.32 per box of 15 bags $1.50 per box of 0 bags $3.29 per box of 0 bags

Two.45 kilogram weights Two 1.13 kilogram weights Two 2.26 kilogram weights Three 3.78 liter bags of Ziplock brand of freezer bag Three 3.78 liter bags of Giant Eagle brand of freezer bag Three 3.78 liter bags of Great Value brand of freezer bag

Manipulated Variable : brand of freezer bag Responding Variable : amount of weight “held” Control Variable : type of weight used / how the bag is picked up from the table

Bag is considered “broken” when any part of the seal on the bag rips / tears. The amount of weight before the “breaking” weight was added will be considered that bags top amount.

Angela principal investigator- checked assignment, communicated directions and conducted discussion about the results recorder / reporter- recorded the amount of weight the bag could hold Molly materials manager- provided bags and weights. maintenance director- directed clean up technical advisor- watched the time

1. Open Ziplock freezer bag number one. 2. Put the least amount of weight in the bag. 3. Seal the bag shut. 4. Flip the bag over. (30 seconds) 5. Add more weight until the bag breaks open. 6. Record the amount of weight that the bag held before breaking. 7. Repeat steps 1-6 for Ziplock bag number 2 and Repeat steps 1-7 for the Giant Eagle and Great Value freezer bags.

Kilograms Brand

After conducting the experiment, “Which brand of freezer bag is the strongest?” we found that the more expensive the bag, the stronger the bag. The Ziplock bag was 16 cents per bag and it held on average 6.34 kilograms. The Giant Eagle bag was 10 cents per bag and it held on average 4.68 kilograms. The Great Value bag was 9 cents per bag and it held 4.6 kilograms.

Our investigation proved our hypothesis to be true. The more expensive the brand of freezer bags the stronger it was.

The investigation could have been improved by using more precise weights. sealing the bag once. (We put a weight in, sealed the bag shut, flipped the bag over, and if the bag did not break we had to open and reseal the bag.) holding the bag upside down for a longer/shorter amount of time. using a machine to flip the bag over, in order to keep the velocity the same.

1. Determine which freezer bag prevents best from freezer burn. 2. Determine which slider freezer bag holds the most weight. 3. Determine which Ziplock brand version holds the most weight Double Guard or Smart Zip. 4. Determine which sandwich bag can hold the most weight.
