Solar System By: Upton’s STLP Students Michael Riggs, Nicole Selby, Laressa Powell, Samantha Sheeran, and Bethany Riggs

Mercury Mercury is the first planet from the sun. It has no rings. It has no moons. Mercury is 36 million miles from the sun.

Venus Venus has no rings. Venus has no moons. It is the second planet from the sun. Venus is about the same size as Earth. It’s the brightest planet in the sky.

Earth Earth is the third planet from the sun. Earth has one moon. It takes 365 days to orbit around the sun. Earth takes 24 hours to rotate on it’s axis. It is the only planet that has life.

Mars Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. Mars has no rings. It’s called the red planet because of its red soil Earth years equal to one year on Mars.

Jupiter Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It takes twelve Earth years for Jupiter to orbit the sun. Jupiter has sixteen moons. Jupiter spins almost twice as fast as Earth.

Saturn It’s the 6th planet from the sun. Saturn has 10 moons. It was discovered by Galileo in One day on Saturn is 10 hours and 40 minutes.

Uranus Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It has nine rings. Sir William Herschel discovered Uranus in Uranus has five moons.

Neptune Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun. It has five rings. Neptune was discovered in It rotates in sixteen hours.

Pluto Pluto is the 9th planet from the sun. It has no rings. 248 Earth years equals one year on Pluto. Pluto is the coldest planet.
