Science Essay! MLA Format

You must write a science research paper based on a chemistry topic. DuPoint science essay challenge: calls on students to research, think critically, and write a research based science essay that provides innovative ideas on our most pressing global challenges, or demonstrates the application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to our daily lives. Four categories (prompts) you could choose from for Dupoint: 1. Together, we can feed the world. 2. Together, we can build a secure energy future. 3. Together, we can protect people and the environment. 4. Together, we can be innovative anywhere.

Possible topics 1.Recycling – plastics 2.Pesticides/Herbicides 3.Alternative Liquid Fuels 4.Household Products (cleaners, pest repents, other household chemicals) 5.Air Quality 6.Food Additives 7.Diabetes 8.Drug Chemistry 9.Vitamins (or specifically vitamin C or specify a vitamin) 10.Paper vs. Plastics 11.Cholesterol and Fats 12.Food preservation chemistry 13.Chemicals that trigger allergies/ allergy medication 14.Endorphins and Morphine 15.Nuclear Power and/ or Waste 16.Radiation Treatments 17.Mass Transportation (the technology, chemistry behind it) 18.Chemistry of Venus and Mars and Other Planets 19.Advancements in batteries/ fuel cell chemistry 20.Specific use of an element (ex: fluoride, uranium, must specify)

What makes a good source? Author: is there an author, are they credible? Is it a reliable publisher? – University, medical institute, gov institute Peer Reviewed Journals! Look at the url: – Good:.edu and.gov – Okay:.org (can be great or really bias) – Only use.com if it is to access a journal article or other scholarly print source Not good: social media, blogs, wikipedia! (open, public, anyone can make up stuff)
