Presentation transcript:

 1. Bar-Jesus, a false prophet, is blinded. Proconsul Sergius Paulus is converted.  2. John returns home.  3. Paul & Barnabas preach to Jews and Gentiles in the synagogue. Jews stir up trouble against Paul and Barnabas and expel them from the region.  4. A great number of Jews and Gentiles believe in Jesus. Unbelieving Jews cause division in the city.  5. Some Jews identify Barnabas as Zeus and Paul as Hermes. Paul is stoned almost to death.  6. Paul and Barnabas win a large number of disciples.

 7. Paul’s success strengthens and encourages the disciples. They appoint elders for the community.  8. Paul and Barnabas go to Pamphylia, Perga, and Attalia.  9. Paul and Barnabas report how the Gospel was accepted by Gentiles.  The Council of Jerusalem  1. Paul and Barnabas get into a sharp dispute with Judaizers from Judea.  2. Paul and Barnabas report how Gentiles were converted. People in Jerusalem rejoice.

 3. Paul and Barnabas are welcomed by the Church in Jerusalem.  4. The council discusses the question of God’s acceptance of the Gentiles. Peter, Paul, Barnabas, and James give speeches.  5. The problem is resolved. The council sends Paul, Barnabas, Judas, and Silas to Antioch with a letter explaining the council conclusions.  6. The people receive the letter. People are encouraged and strengthened. Paul and Barnabas remain and teach in Jerusalem.

 1. At the beginning of the journey, Paul and Barnabas disagree over taking John Mark. Barnabas takes John Mark, and Paul takes Silas. Timothy joins Paul and Silas.  2. Paul has a vision to go to Macedonia. Luke seems to have joined by verse 10.  3. Lydia is converted. A fortuneteller is delivered from demon-possession. Paul and Silas are jailed. While they are in jail, there is an earthquake. The jailer is converted.

 4. Jews, Greeks, and women believe in the Gospel. Jealous Jews cause turmoil and mob Jason’s house.  5. More Jews, Greek men, and women believe in the gospel. Jews from Thessalonica come and stir up people against Paul.  6. Paul preaches about the “unknown god” and converts a few people.  7. Crispus is converted. Paul has a vision to stay in Corinth. Many Corinthians believe what he says and are baptized. Paul meets Aquila and Priscilla; Sosthenes is beaten.

 8. Paul is asked to stay and preach, but he declines. He leaves Aquila and Priscilla in charge.  Paul’s Third Missionary Journey  1. The journey begins, and the disciples are strengthened.  2. Many miracles are performed. The word of God spreads widely and grows in power. The silversmiths riot because Paul has destroyed their business.  3. There is a plot to kill Paul on the voyage.

 4. Eutychus falls from a window. Paul brings him back to life.  5. Paul bids farewell to the Ephesian elders and encourages them.  6. Agabus warns Paul of what would happen in Jerusalem.  7. Paul reports what God did among the Gentiles on his journey. Paul enters into a Jewish rite of purification.

 Paul’s Trip to Rome  1. A mob forms and a riot results. Soldiers arrest Paul.  2. Paul defends himself. He gives testimony to Jesus and angers the crowd again.  3. Because of the angry crowd, officials give the order to flog Paul. The commander becomes alarmed when he finds out that Paul is a Roman citizen. Citizens are not to be flogged.  4. Paul testifies, the Pharisees and Sadducees dispute him.

 5. The Jews vow no to eat again until they have killed Paul. Paul’s nephew tells the Roman commander what the Jews are planning. He plots Paul’s escape.  6. Paul is taken to Governor Felix at Casarea.  7. Paul goes on trial Felix and Festus.  8. Agrippa tells Festus that Paul could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.  9. The soldiers set sail to Rome with Paul, even though Paul warns them there will be a storm and a shipwreck.

 10. During the storm at sea, Paul encourages others. He tells them to put their faith in God.  11. After the shipwreck, Paul helps others reach land safely.  12. Paul is bitten by a snake but no ill effects are suffered, leading the people to believe that Paul is god. He heals a man named Publicus.  13. Paul is put on a ship for Rome and gives testimony in Rome.
