Lina Mayfleet is one of the main characters in the story. Lina is very loving toward her family and friends. Topic: Describe the characters in The City of Ember. Lina and Doon work together. “Lina loved her little sister so much that it was like an ache under her ribs” (pg. 23). Lina took care of her sister and grandma, and sat up with her grandma when she died. Lina and Doon tried to figure out the instructions Lina and Doon turn in the mayor for his dishonesty and greed. 1 Paragraph Plan Example

“Lina was glad to carry this message, though her gladness was mixed with sadness.” As a12-year-old, Lina Mayfleet was one of the two main characters in The City of Ember. Lina has quite a few personality traits that make her stand out from other characters in the book. One of the main traits is that Lina is very loving, especially toward her family and friends. In the book, Jeanne DuPrau says, “Lina loved her little sister so much that it was like an ache under her ribs.” Lina almost seemed like a mother figure to her little sister and her aging grandmother. Later in the book, Lina is found sitting up with her grandmother most of the night when her grandmother died. Lina was very nurturing and showed her love over and over to her family members. Lina also worked well with others, such as Doon. Throughout the book, Lina and Doon worked very closely for a common goal. That common goal was trying to decipher the instructions that Lina found and Poppy chewed to pieces. While trying to figure out the clues, Doon found out that the mayor was greedily hoarding food and supplies in a secret room. Once figuring this out, Lina and Doon decided that the responsible thing to do would be to turn in the mayor for his dishonesty and greed. Sample Paragraph
