The Gospel According to Paul

A faith decision has a two fold consequence… Spiritual consequences AND temporal

Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1) We are justified by faith… like Abraham Romans 4:3-5 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”… 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Romans 5:6-9 6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God..”

Romans 3:23 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:10 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 1) We are justified by faith… like Abraham 2) Peace With God, from reconciliation

Romans 5:2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 1) We are justified by faith… like Abraham 2) Peace With God, from reconciliation 3) We stand in grace (grace = forgiveness)

Titus 2: For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Romans 5:2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 1) We are justified by faith… like Abraham 2) Peace With God, from reconciliation 3) We stand in grace (grace = forgiveness) 4) We rejoice in our hope, an “inner” joy

Romans 5:3-5 3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 1. In suffering we see endurance

1.In suffering we see endurance 2.In endurance we develop character

1.In suffering we see endurance 2.In endurance we develop character 3.Character (inner strength) produces hope HOPE = Desire + Expectation
