NobelProcera® ASC Abutment This is the introduction slide for the ASC Abutment and the Omnigrip tooling. For your background information: This part of the presentation will start with an overview of currently available CAD/CAM zirconia abutment concepts. It will then go into the advantages and disadvantages of each concept. This will show that the Angulated Screw Channel Abutment solves challenges which previously have prevented screw-retained crowns being applied in certain cases. The presentation now looks at the additional benefits of the ASC Abutment and Omnigrip tooling before summarizing all benefits for your customers. CAD/CAM zirconia abutment concepts Cement- vs. screw-retained solution Cement-retained (abutment + coping) Screw-retained crown (direct veneering) Esthetic (cement-retained crown covers screw access hole) Independent of implant orientation / angulation Ideal occlusal morphology Challenges: Ensuring removal of all cement remnants (especially with subgingival cement line) Can be difficult to remove Unknown retention of crown No risk of leaving residual cement Easy to maintain – remove and re-tighten Predictable retention Cost-effective Challenges: Esthetics: Depends on implant orientation / angulation Occlusal function may be hindered due to position of screw access hole Required interocclusal (vertical) space needed for tooling First explain here the benefits of cement-retained abutments over screw-retained crowns. Then explain the challenges of the cement-retained solution (marked in red). Now explain the benefits of screw-retained crowns (marked in green). Highlight that the challenges of the cement-retained solution are solved with the benefits of the screw-retained solution. Finally, explain the challenges of screw-retained crowns (which will be shown on the next slide) Buccal view of abutments Disclaimer: Some products may not be regulatory cleared/released for sale in all markets. CAD/CAM zirconia abutment concepts Straight vs CAD/CAM zirconia abutment concepts Straight vs. angulated screw channel solution Screw-retained (with straight screw channel) Angled screw access channel New No risk of leaving residual cement Easy to maintain – remove and re-tighten Predictable retention Cost-effective Challenges: Esthetics: Depends on implant orientation / angulation Occlusal function may be hindered due to position of screw access hole Required interocclusal (vertical) space needed for tooling Restorative flexibility to place the screw access hole to create optimal esthetics and occlusal function Ideal solution when interocclusal space is limited - ability to easily position screw access hole mesially Here the same benefits and challenges of screw-retained crowns from the previous slide are taken up again (on the left side). Now we compare it to a solution with an angulated screw access channel. Highlight here that the challenges of the screw-retained solution (marked in red) are solved with the benefits of the angulated screw access channel solution (marked in green). Increased restorative flexibility with no cement: NobelProcera® ASC Abutment This slide is now to explain how the concept of an angulated screw channel works. You can either play the whole movie or focus on seconds 26 – 32 while explaining that the screw access hole can be positioned: At an angle of up to 25° from the axis of the implant Anywhere within a 360-degree radius Disclaimer: Some products may not be regulatory cleared/released for sale in all markets. NobelProcera® ASC Abutment Additional advantages For Nobel Biocare conical connections NP and RP Tight seal and high mechanical strength High esthetic result with platform shifting Zirconia abutment with metal adapter Mechanically retained: no cement needed Expanding indications: CC Zr abutment now usable in posterior region Available in all shades (white, light, medium and intense) New Omnigrip Screwdriver and Screws* Ease of use: clicks into screw head with unique pick-up function Reduced risk of screw loosening: full torque (35Ncm) can be applied at any angle (0-25°) This slide goes into more detail on what comes with the ASC Abutment in addition to the option of angulating the screw channel. For conical connection implants NP and RP in all shades: The angulated screw channel option is available for zirconia abutments on narrow platform and regular platform implants with Nobel Biocare’s internal conical connection. This advanced connection is available for Nobel Biocare’s award-winning1 NobelActive family, as well as for NobelReplace Conical Connection and NobelReplace Conical Connection PMC (Partially Machined Collar) implants. It offers a hexagonal internal locking mechanism for a tight seal and high mechanical strength. The conical connection also allows for platform shifting. This ‘shift’ moves the implant-abutment junction onto the implant platform. This makes room for maximum soft tissue volume to safely come up onto the platform edge. Platform shifting therefore encourages more natural-looking gums for an even better esthetic result. Moving the junction further away from the bone has also been shown to reduce radiographically detectable crestal bone loss.1,2,3 The zirconia abutment comes with a titanium adapter This adapter is mechanically retained, which means it does not have to be cemented. Thanks to this adapter, and the screw-retained solution, your customers will not have to use cement in the critical area of the soft tissue. Thanks to the adapter, this zirconia option can also be utilized in the posterior, providing the clinician with an entirely new option for delivering the best possible restoration (Zirconia abutments on Conical Connection were not indicated for posterior use before). The Zirconia part is available in the shades white, light, medium and intense. New Omnigrip Screwdriver: The unique tip of the Omnigrip Screwdriver allows the screw to be tightened and loosened within the angulated channel. The Omnigrip Screwdriver grips and holds the screw equally tightly at any angle within the available range (from 0° to 25°). The same accessibility and torque of 35Ncm can be applied as if the channel were straight. It allows easy handling from multiple angles, even in the posterior. 1 Atieh MA, Ibrahim HM, Atieh AH. NobelProcera® ASC Abutment Addressing daily challenges Anterior challenge: For many anterior cases the screw access hole of the abutment has to be covered by a cement-retained crown if an esthetic outcome is to be achieved. This and the next two slides will go into more detail on the daily challenges which the ASC Abutment addresses. The benefits highlighted at the bottom of the slide explain how the anterior challenge is solved. Please note, that there are other benefits in addition to those that are shown here: No risk of leaving residual cement Easy to maintain (easy to remove and re-tighten) Predictable retention These benefits are possible because a screw-retained solution can be applied, rather than having to go with a cement-retained solution. These benefits have already been covered on slide 6. Your benefits with ASC: Restorative flexibility to place the screw access hole in a position that creates optimal esthetics. Cement-free: Intelligently designed mechanically retained adapter. Disclaimer: Some products may not be regulatory cleared/released for sale in all markets. Please contact the local Nobel Biocare sales office for current product assortment and availability.
NobelProcera® ASC Abutment Addressing daily challenges Posterior challenges: Secure handling and access with tooling in the posterior region can be challenging in situations with limited interocclusal distance (vertical space). Occlusal function may be hindered due to position of screw access hole on screw-retained crowns. Risk of leaving residual cement. Your benefits with ASC: Easy access to restoration with the option to position screw access hole mesially. Work easily with the pick-up function and securely hold the screw using the Omnigrip Screwdriver. Optimum occlusal function (screw access hole can be positioned in ideal place for optimal occlusal function). Cement-free: Intelligently designed mechanically retained adapter. The benefits highlighted at the bottom of the slide explain how the posterior challenges are solved. Please note, that there are other benefits in addition to those that are shown here: No risk of leaving residual cement Easy to maintain (easy to remove and re-tighten) Predictable retention These benefits result because a screw-retained solution can be applied rather than having to go with a cement-retained solution. Back-up slide Better access for cases with limited vertical space Vertical space gained Horizontal space gained This is a back-up slide to explain the concept of how the ASC Abutment and Omnigrip tooling help in situations with limited interocclusal distance (vertical space). The red box simulates the mandible. As we can see, the Unigrip screwdriver is in the red area, which means it is not possible to access the screw. The special Omnigrip screws can be tightened at an angle with the Omnigrip screwdriver. This means the screwdriver can be held mesially when tightening the abutment screw. As such, we save space in two ways: Vertically: Screwdrivers with the same length are shorter when angulated Horizontally: This allows you to take the head of the screwdriver to where there is more space (as there is more space in between the teeth towards the mesial when the mouth is opened) Thus, for all cases where there is not enough space to place and access the restoration, the ASC provides the following benefits: Better access to the restoration More patient comfort Disclaimer: Some products may not be regulatory cleared/released for sale in all markets.
