Romans 8:18 Leads to Suffering Glory

Romans 8:29-30 It is critical to notice that the words “those who love God” bare emphatic.

Romans 8:29-30 This is a critical condition for what follows.

Romans 8:29-30 Paul is only talking about those who are living as adult sons (vv ), those who have the “first fruits” of the Spirit (v. 23), and express their love for the Lord through suffering with Him.

Romans 8:29-30 These believers share in the massive plan of all things and are called “in harmony with” His purpose (v. 28).

Romans 8:29-30 In 8:29-30, Paul is explaining why v. 28 is true.

Romans 8:28 Those who Love God Called in harmony with His purpose

Romans 8:29-30 “His purpose” To share His glory with those who suffer with Him

Romans 8:29-30 Our calling is why our suffering leads to what is good, the freedom of all creation.

Romans 8:29-30 The temptation is to make this statement individual.

Romans 8:29-30 In context, this is a statement about God’s eternal goal for believers as they share a role in the freedom of all things.

Romans 8:28-29 Rom. 8:29-30 “His purpose” Those who expanded… Love God Called in harmony with His purpose

Those who suffer with Him and love Him Relationship before time Predestined to likeness to Christ

Romans 8:29-30 This is consistent with 1 Tim. 1:9; God’s purpose and grace are determinative.

Those who suffer with Him and love Him Predestined Called

Romans 8:29-30 In the calling, our personal experience is impacted.

Romans 8:29-30 These are those of v. 28 who “love God” and are “called in harmony with His purpose” and suffer together with creation toward it’s freedom.

Those who suffer with Him and love Him Called Justified

Those who suffer with Him and love Him Justified Glorified

Romans 8:29-30 “Firstborn” Heir of all things among many brothers who, if we suffer with Him, will co-reign with Him.

Romans 8:29-30 No matter how much we suffer we need always remember… Our relationship with God started in eternity past and will extend into eternity in the future!

Romans 8:29-30 God is preparing us for glory!

Romans 8:29-30 No matter how bad it gets, in the final analysis, it amounts to nothing by comparison!

Romans 8:31 Of course there are and will be those who will be against us, but…

Romans 8:31 If God is on our side, who can fight Him effectively?

Romans 8:31 God wants to give us creation as a reward.

Romans 8:31 That’s not half-bad.

Romans 8:31 The One who is the Heir of creation, the One who gets it all, is the One with whom we will actually share creation.

Romans 8:32 If God would give His only beloved Son, He will certainly graciously give us creation to share with Him.

Romans 8:32 God had the eternal interests of the world in mind when He gave the world His Son.

Romans 8:32 He certainly has the eternal interests of those who love Him in mind.

Romans 8:32 Those who share the Lord’s sufferings will also share His glory in a special way!

Romans 8:33-34 We stand in a position of having been justified before God.

Romans 8:33-34 This can cause us to suffer differently, with hope!

Romans 8:33-34 When we suffer, we often feel we deserve it.

Romans 8:33-34 And, if our consciences don’t cause our guilt, Satan and his agents are happy to help make our lives worse.

Romans 8:33-34 But, believers who suffer with Christ will find no charge will be considered, as “God is the One who justifies”.

Romans 8:33-34 And, our justification can’t be questioned, since “Christ is the One who died”.

Romans 8:33-34 But, it doesn’t end there…

Romans 8:33-34 Christ is our Advocate at the right hand of God. 1 John 2:1-2

Romans 8:33-34 Our acceptance before God is complete!

Romans 8:35-37 The point = ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Romans 8:35-37 Difficulties are what godly believers can expect.

Romans 8:35-37 It can seem as though we’re often on the verge of death... …BUT…

Romans 8:35-37 We completely prevail through the One who loved us!

Romans 8:35-37 We are completely justified before God and loved by Jesus!

Romans 8:35-37 “The suffering believer’s situation is impregnable and moves irresistibly toward complete and unequivocal victory.” Hodges

Romans 8:38-39 Paul here writes out of the depths of what he holds to be true… “I am persuaded…”

Romans 8:38-39 Nothing in life or in death No supernatural being Nothing that can happen now or later Nothing in the heights of heaven or the depths of hell…

Romans 8:38-39 NOTHING!
