QUESTION Does Electricity Move Better Through Thick Wires Or Thin wires? MENU

HYPOTHESIS We Think That Electricity Moves Better Through Thick Wires Because Electricity Needs More Space To Move. MENU

MATERIALS 3 Plastic Straws 3D Batteries Electrical Tape Steel Wool Pad 3 Small Light Bulbs (Like For a Flashlight) Camera To Take Pictures MENU

PROCEDURES 1.First put your 3 batteries on a flat surface. 2. Cut the straws the exact same length as the batteries 3.Put one straw on the side of each battery and tape it onto the battery using the electrical tape. 4.Take the steel wool and pull the strands apart. Make a small pile on the table. 5.First, take 3 strands of the steel wool and roll them together until they make a wire. 6.Then, take 6 strands of the steel wool and do the same thing. 7.Then, take 10 strands of the steel wool and roll them together until they make a wire. 8.Now you have 3 wires. Put each wire into one of the straws that are attached to the batteries. 9.For each wire, tape one end to the negative end of the battery ( the flat end that has a minus sign on it.) 10.Wrap the other end around the bottom of the flashlight bulbs. 11. Move the end of the light bulb down until it touches positive side of the battery (the part that sticks out.) 12.If your circuit is complete, the bulb will come on. The picture below will help you. 13.Do this for all 3 batteries. Write down on the other page how bright each bulb is using the numbers 1-10 (10 begin very bright.) 14. Do this 2 times for each battery. MENU

CHARTS AND TABLES Write 1-10, and 10 being very bright and 1 being not bright at all. Wires 1st time 2nd time 3 wires - thin 3 6 wires – medium size 7 10 wires - thick 10 MENU

RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS The 10 strands wire made the light bulb brightest because electricity always needs space to move through wires. MENU
