Core sampling is drilling and removal of samples of material that are below the surface in order to examine the contents. Core sampling is drilling and removal of samples of material that are below the surface in order to examine the contents.

When you core sample you take a hollow pipe or a tube and stick it into the ground. Then you take the pipe out of the ground and look at the different levels of the sample.
