ADMISSIONS Criteria: OMS I or II Minimum GPA of 3.0 OR within the top 25% of the class History of community service involvement and extracurricular activities Past leadership experience, research Process: Written application (Blinded & not blinded) Each application is read by 3 E-board members (blinded to the applicant) Top applicants are given to Faculty advisor for review and final decision on accepting applicants.
SSP ACTIVE MEMBER REQUIREMENTS 1. SSP members must attend all General Meetings st and 2 nd year SSP members must complete at least 20 community service hours total, 10 of which must to be SSP hours, per semester rd and 4 th year SSP members must complete at least 5 community service hours total per year 4. Maintain 3.0 GPA or higher. 5. Each member has to attend one national conference/year. Ie. DO day, OMED, Specialty conferences etc.
PAST EVENTS “Spring into Health” Health Fair, March 21, 2014 Harlem community health outreach event; free blood glucose, blood pressure, HIV screenings, etc. SSP Food Pantry- First Corinthian Church NY Cares Orientation- Biggest volunteer org in NYC.
NEW EVENTS SSP Medical Spanish Classes- Basic, Intermediate, Advanced. Weekly SSP Differential Dx- Prior to every module exam SSP Monthly Medical Education Program Visit local primary school, educate basic medical knowledge. SSP Mock Practicals- Hold OSCE and Anatomy Mocks SSP 3 rd yr Board Prep/Rotations Q & A Panel
