Hate Crime in Lincolnshire Shell Arliss Total Voice

Quotes: I didn’t like having apples thrown at me but didn’t know there was anything I could do about it (Service user, aged 45, Lincolnshire) I was pushed over in the street every time I went out and once broke my arm, they always called me names when they pushed me over (Male aged 65, Lincolnshire) I had paint thrown over my windows, thing pushed through my letter box and constant knocking on my door because they think I am different (Female, aged 27 with a learning disability, Lincolnshire)

What needs to happen in Lincolnshire? We need a greater understanding for everyone in Lincolnshire of exactly what Hate Crime is People need to know they CAN report incidents (only 9 disability reportings last year in this area) People need to know HOW they can report incidents People need to know WHAT support is available when they report

‘Champions’ who have been the victims of Hate Crime and come through the other end need to tell their stories ‘Victims’ need to be involved in setting priorities, the focus and the targets for work to develop support that in Lincolnshire focused

What needs to be done to ensure, across agencies, there is a victim focused service? We need awareness sessions for people We need to set up working groups that will feed in to all decision maker Organisations We need to support these working groups to direct services and set priorities in Lincolnshire We need to support ‘Champions’ to tell their stories We need to work jointly with other Organisations We need to work with the Police and Crime Commisioner to ensure a more co-ordinated victim focused service is provided
