1 Old Adam Vs. New Man Ephesians 4 22)You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23) to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24) and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

2 Old Adam Vs. New Man

3 Before God comes to us, we are lost sinners. This non-spiritual“lostness” is called the old Adam. This sinful flesh can be pictured with a crooked stick man filling a person up with sin and death. Natural Human

4 So here’s how all people are born as sinners: Natural Human

5 But then God comes to a person through faith: Natural Human

6 Because of God’s gift of faith, the Believer becomes two (2) persons. Believer Sinful flesh Faith in action

7 These two persons in a believer are also called: Believer Old Man New Man

8 What happens between the Old Man and New Man? Believer I Hate God! I Love God!

9 ROM 7 15) I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do; but what I hate, I do. 17) As it is, it is no long- er I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18) I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19) For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do– this I keep on doing.

10 From Romans 7 we see that our sinful flesh and faith fight each other. Believer

11 Believer God uses Law to cut down the old man. God uses Gospel to build up the new man.

12 What happens between the Old Man and New Man? Believer I Hate God! The Old Man still always hates God and loves evil.

16 Believer At death we are finally free from the old man!
