 Provides Career Technical Education programs, College Tech Prep initiatives, services and resources to over 25,000 students in the Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Kent, Stow- Munroe Falls, Tallmadge and Woodridge school districts  23 different Career Technical Education programs  3 College Tech Prep initiatives Theodore Roosevelt High School Stow-Munroe Falls High School Cuyahoga Falls High School Tallmadge High School Hudson High School Woodridge High School

 Hands-on Tech Prep initiative that provides knowledge and real-life experiences through rigorous and relevant curricular instruction in the prevention, recognition, treatment, rehabilitation and administration of athletic, as well as, other common injuries and health care conditions

 2-year College Tech Prep initiative  Opportunity for students to learn in a variety of styles and learning environments  Career interest areas include: Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Emergency Services, Fitness, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Education, and more

 AHCF I – Level I Instructor – Mr. Toby Jurging, ATC, CSCS Meets at Roosevelt daily from 7:35-10:15am 3 credits (1 science)  Areas of Concentration Anatomy/Physiology Introduction to care and prevention Emergency response and care Basic clinical skill competencies

 AHCF II – Level II Instructor – Mr. Terry Slattery, ATC Meets at Roosevelt daily from 12:00-2:35pm 3 credits  Areas of Concentration Evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of common injuries/conditions Design, implementation, and theories of cardiovascular, strength, conditioning, and nutritional programs Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED Career development including professional shadows and research opportunities

 A curricular alignment between a career/technical education program and a specific academic area within an institution of higher education  Opportunity to earn college credit for students meeting academic requirements while still in high school  Academically and clinically challenging

 Athletic Health Care and Fitness is the first College Tech Prep initiative in the state of Ohio to be aligned with two institutes of higher education (Kent State University and The University of Akron) offering Baccalaureate Degree program majors

 Opportunity to earn college credit at a greatly reduced cost per credit hour  Academic challenge and clinical skill development  Interaction with collegiate academic instructors, mentor students, and Allied Health Care professionals  Head start in the health career field of choice.

 University of Akron Fitness and Wellness (1 credit)  Successful completion (80%) of computer based exam given at UA Concepts of Health and Fitness (3 credits)  Successful completion (80%) of computer based exam given in April at UA Medical Terminology (3 credits)  Successful completion of UA web-based self-directed course (80% average) University of Akron Representatives: Nicole Mullet Stacy Buser Rachelle Kapler Dr. Ron Otterstetter

 Kent State University Fitness for Life (3 credits)  Successful completion (80%) of the AHCF Tech Prep 2-yr program and enrollment into any KSU Allied Health Care major KSU Representative: Dr. Kim Peer

 Professional portfolio that includes: Skill Competencies Student Resume Letters of Recommendation Certificate of Course Completion Career Experiences, Projects, Awards, Etc. Passport requirements 95% attendance “B” or better average Competency completion Senior Research Project

Class of 2010  25 completers : 12 TRHS, 5 SMFHS, 1 CFHS, 3 THS, 2 HHS, 2 WHS All 25 enrolled in 4-yr college degree programs  $250, in scholarships  University of Notre Dame, University of Akron, Kent State University, Ohio Univiversity, University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University, Walsh University, University of Southern Florida  Allied Health Care Professions: Athletic Training, Nutrition, EMT/Paramedic/Firefighting, Nursing, Pre- Med, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Exercise Physiology, Health Administration, Pharmacy

 Acceptance to the College Tech Prep initiative is competitive upon completion of an application  All candidates for the initiative are reviewed for selection by a professional screening placement committee  Class size is limited
