Welcome & Introductions  Welcome to new GC members.  Grad School’s new Assistant Director, Lillith Richardson  Let’s introduce ourselves…

The Grad School  Location  We are now in Suite 2000 of Building 1.  Same phone numbers, fax number, etc.  New Staff  Lillith Richardson, Assistant Director  Melissa Crymes, Admissions Processor

Graduate ALC  GALC required of each Graduate Major  May need to program level  Must Include:  Program Mission Statement  Learning Outcomes for program graduates  Curriculum Map  Identified types of assessments  Assessment plan (four-year cycle)  2010/2011 is a development / revision year

Graduate ALC  2010/2011 is a development / revision year  Develop the GALC (could begin with existing GLO information and revise accordingly)  DRAFT is due March 11, 2011  Completed in MS Word (template provided)  Feedback will be provided  Final is due posted by August  Reporting cycle will be based on annual calendar.  First report due March 1, 2013 for the 2012 year.

Graduate Admissions Requirements  Request  Can programs choose to not require a graduate entrance exam?  Answer / History  Yes – we need to develop a policy.  BOG devolved admission requirements to each institution  BOG Rule

Bog Rule  (1) Each university board of trustees shall adopt regulations for the admission of graduate and post-baccalaureate professional students. Such regulations shall be consistent with the university mission and Board of Governors regulations.  (2) Institutions are expected to periodically review university regulations for admission of graduate and post-baccalaureate professional students to minimize unnecessary impediments to access, while maintaining academic quality and integrity.  Authority: Section 7(d), Art. Graduate Admissions Requirements  UCF Model  All admitted students to graduate / Post-bac professional programs must have:  Earned Bachelor’s degree and….  3.0 GPS in all UG work or  3.0 GPA in all upper division work or  Earned previous graduate degree  All doctoral applicants must submit GRE or GMAT, 3 letters of recommendation, resume/CV, and written essay  Master’s applicants:  Not required to take an entrance exam for university admission  Programs may have other requirements  Approved by graduate dean  Must be indicators of a successful student

Graduate Admissions Requirements  Thoughts…….  How to proceed…….  Discuss with your departments, chairs, deans  Communicate with Len on the consensus (via )  TGS will collect comparison data on our peers and aspirants to get a feel for similar policies  Then….discuss in January, perhaps develop a draft, etc.
