Married for over 25 years I met my wife a few years after I started teaching. We have two grown children.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada Studied at the University of British Columbia Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Geography and Physical Education

Teaching for life! Education is my passion. I believe that as an educator, my job is to prepare today’s young people for the future.

Canadian and American education As well as studying in Canada, I completed a Masters Degree at San Diego State University in California.

What do you know about curriculum? I’ve taught the Canadian Curriculum at several schools, including L.V. Rogers Secondary School in my hometown of Nelson.

American and English I’ve taught the American curriculum in the Philippines and the Cambridge “O” and “A” level curriculum in Zimbabwe.

International Baccalaureate I have 2 years experience teaching I.B. Geography.

What do I want for our students? Education that is research based

Education that meets the needs of ALL learners.

Teaching based on “best practice”

CHALLENGE is NOT a dirty word We want to challenge our students and we want them to challenge themselves. Academically And Behaviourally

Preparing for the future We need to prepare our students so they are able to find success in whatever field they choose to pursue in life. Our students must be able to compete globally, not just locally.

Resilience and perserverence We need to teach our students that: It is OK to take risks It is OK to make mistakes It is OK to try something new It is OK to question the status quo When we face a problem we must move forward and find a way to solve that problem. Not wait and hope it will go away.

A good school is more than academics A really great school has a culture of RESPECT For fellow students For all staff members For the school itself

The NILE VALLEY family Students Teachers Support staff Parents Communication must always be open and on-going.
