Agenda The Victorian Training Guarantee for 2010 Student eligibility Funding arrangements Purpose of Information Session: To describe arrangements for delivery in Victorian government subsidised training in 2010

The Victorian Training Guarantee is an entitlement to a government subsidised place in recognised training that can be accessed at any time and it will continue to be available for training at successfully higher levels. While a person keeps moving up the qualification scale, the Victorian Training Guarantee will continue to subsidise their training. The Victorian Training Guarantee What is the Victorian Training Guarantee? For every eligible person seeking to undertake accredited training, where industry can generate demand for training from eligible people, the Victorian Government will provide funding to support that training. The Victorian Training Guarantee will become available in stages over July 2009 and January 2010, and is expected to be fully operational for all courses in 2011.

The Victorian Training Guarantee Purpose and suggested use Purpose: provide an information resource for training provider staff wishing to understand the new student eligibility requirements being implemented for 2010 as part of the Victorian Training Guarantee Suggested use for 2010 for staff who: prepare enrolment information for students provide career guidance or pathways planning enrol students or offer customer service assistance market or promote a provider’s products and services The information can be used to prepare materials such as: Internal training materials User Guides Communications support materials Student guides or fact sheets Brochures Web-site content

The Victorian Training Guarantee Your Pathway to Success in 2010 The Victorian Training Guarantee is an entitlement to a government subsidised place in recognised training that can be accessed at any time and it will continue to be available for training at successfully higher levels. While a person keeps moving up the qualification scale, the Victorian Training Guarantee will continue to subsidise their training. Some of the key questions you may have about enrolling in a vocational education or training course are: Can I get a place in vocational education and training? Am I eligible for the Victorian Training Guarantee? What are the fees? Can you get assistance with paying fees? Where can I get more information? Am I eligible?

Victorian Training Guarantee The Victorian Training Guarantee The new eligibility rules are being progressively introduced over the periods from July 2009, January 2010 and January 2011, as follows. From July 2009 applicants applying for diplomas and above, and students referred through Skills for Growth for all qualifications From January 2010 Young people aged 15 – 19 years who are eligible for government subsidised funding for all qualifications Young people aged years who are seeking a qualification higher than the highest qualification held Retrenched workers aged 25 or over who are seeking a qualification higher than the highest qualification held From January 2011 all applicants will be subject to eligibility rules when applying for a government subsidised place for all qualifications

Victorian Training Guarantee - Scenarios The Victorian Training Guarantee 2010 An applicant is seeking enrolment in a Certificate III in Plumbing to be undertaken as an apprenticeship. He will be 19 on 1 January of the year of commencement. An applicant is seeking enrolment in a Certificate III in Plumbing to be undertaken as an apprenticeship. He will be 22 on 1 January of the year of commencement and already holds Certificate III in Hospitality. X An applicant is seeking enrolment in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. He will be 40 at the time of commencement and holds a Diploma in Engineering (Civil) from a TAFE institution and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from an Australian university. X
