Agenda Why is CSUN required to seek additional enrollment management tools? Overview of proposed impaction plan Freshman impaction Transfer impaction Next steps and timeline Comments and questions

Why is CSUN required to seek additional enrollment management tools? CSU basic admissions requirements Effect of CSU/state funding (e.g., enrollment target) on admissions Effect of the gap between enrollment demand and available resources

What is Impaction? A condition where there are more qualified applicants than funded seats available. Impaction can be declared at: - Campus level (e.g., freshman and/or transfer) - Academic program level (e.g., by major and/or program) Permits the use of higher/supplemental requirements for some applicants to be eligible Eligible applicants are admitted based upon space available Impaction plan must be approved by the Chancellor’s Office

Is CSUN Currently Impacted at the Freshman Level? Yes. CSUN is impacted at the freshman level - Applicants from a defined local admissions area meet basic requirements - Non-local applicants admitted based on space available and must have higher GPA/test score 17 CSU campuses have freshman impaction

Current Freshman Impaction CSUN is already impacted for first-time freshmen Enhanced requirements for non-local applicants
