Important General Tryout Information Every dancer must attend all days of tryouts – Unless communicated with coaches PRIOR to tryouts – Must be an extreme circumstance Must turn in all paperwork on the 1 st day of tryouts Closed to spectators

What Should I Wear To Tryouts? Every day of tryouts – Tight fitting attire – NO midriff – Bring tennis shoes and jazz shoes – Hair up and out of face – NO jewelry, NO gum Saturday (Final day) – Wear ALL black

How Do Tryouts Work? Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – Learn dances – Learn skills Saturday – Perform in groups of 3

Technical Requirements Varsity: Quad/5x on right/Triple on left Leg Pirouettes Switch leap/center Tors/Fouettes (w/ “and” counts) Tilts (Tilt kicks, jumps & turns into tilts) Turning Ala Seconde Jump Jumps: Toe Touch, Calypso, Charge Splits: right, left & center Junior Varsity: Triple on right/Double on left Front Leg Hold Right, left and center leap Tors/Fouettes (2 eight counts) Kicks/Toe Touches Flexibility Freshman: Double on right/ Single on left Extension of your choice Toe Touch Kicks above 90 degrees Right Splits

Tryout Scoring Tryout Pieces/Technical Elements: 50% Jazz routine (Varsity oriented) Pom routine (JV and Freshman oriented) Ballet combo (Varsity oriented) Technical Elements (previous slide) Academics: 25% Appropriate grade requirements Evaluations from teachers Coach’s Discretion: 25% Tryout participation Team/Spirit Work Ethic Professionalism Across the floor

So, What Team Should I Expect to Make? Freshman-Freshmen only JV-Sophomores and Juniors Varsity-Juniors and Seniors These are not set in stone, you are able to make ANY team if you are qualified

Tryouts are over, now what?!?

Tryout Results The results will be posted on the website – Poms.legendtitans.org The results will be posted by Monday after tryouts If you have any questions regarding the results, you are welcome to contact us either the Monday after tryouts, or if posted on Monday, 24 hours after the results are posted.

Schedule Conflicts If you have issues with any of the scheduling (summer, holiday break) the coaching staff needs to know immediately (before tryouts)

Summer All teams will have practice starting in May and ending at the end of June. All teams will go to camp June 9-June 12 – Overnight Camp In order to compete at camp, must be present at EVERY practice before June 9th July there is no practice July 31 st -August 7 th -All teams Mandatory

School Year Practices Every practice is mandatory Practices times are still TBD – Freshman will practice 3-4 times a week – JV will practice 3-4 times a week – Varsity will practice 5 times a week Will be after school, and will end before 9PM Saturday practices may be necessary during competition season.

Games All games are mandatory – Football – Volleyball – Basketball Schedules are not out yet, will post on calendar when released.

Holiday Breaks Fall Break – Oct is MANDATORY in order to compete Thanksgiving Break – JV/Freshman-OFF – Varsity Mandatory (Nov 23 and 24) Christmas Break – JV/Freshman-OFF – Varsity-Mandatory (Dec 28-31)

Competitions Competitions take place November-January – Most competitions are on Saturdays – League is during the week All girls are expected to stay through the whole competition WITH the team (usually last the whole day)

What Do the Teams Compete? Varsity – Pom and Jazz will be competed throughout the year Junior Varsity – Pom and Jazz will be competed throughout the year Freshman – Pom will be competed throughout the year

Can We Fundraise? Of course! We offer both team (mandatory) and individual (Optional) fundraisers to help with the costs

Team Fundraisers Carwashes – 3 (June-August) Magazine Sales – May Restaurant Nights 2 Tiny Titans – (October and February) Elementary Clinics Gala – April Babysitting Nights Titan Cards – September ** ALL team Fundraisers are MANDATORY Team Fundraisers go directly to the team Accounts These pay for things such as competitions

Individual Fundraisers Cookie Dough – October Candles – November Village Inn Pie Cards – November Kings Soopers Cards Superbowl Grid Titan Cards – September All individual fundraisers are optional! The money you earn from individual fundraisers goes towards your personal account to pay your bill!
