B ACKGROUND I NFORMATION ING- Direct did a survey of 1015 people They asked what is the “most appropriate amount” to spend on a first date. Men thought that they should spend $108 Women thought they should spend $85 Women said that $192 was too much while $27 was too cheap. “Women clearly feel uncomfortable when a man spends too much on a first date,” said Lisa Claes, ING’s executive director.

Girls would tell a lower amount to the guys asking than when a girl asked them Guys would say a higher amount when a girl asked them as opposed to when a guy asked them. Thus, men and women at BYU-Idaho both lie. A lot.
