A Baptism by Full Immersion When a teenager or adult wants to show everyone that they are a Christian, they may choose to be baptised. Baptist, Evangelical & ‘House churches’ use this baptism

This is Lucy. She’s 13.

Lucy stood up in church, and told everyone that she was a Christian – she loves Jesus and wants to follow Him.

The Church leader, and Lucy’s friend Anna, prayed for her.

Lucy gets ready to walk down the steps into the Baptistery, which is full of water.

Oh, it’s cold! The children, and the music group, and everyone watch as Pastor Nigel helps Lucy down into the pool.

Standing in the pool, Lucy is asked if she is sure she wants to be baptised.

“On confession of your faith, I baptise you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Time to take a deep breath!)

As she goes right under the water, it shows that she is dying to her old life, as if she is burying it.

As she comes up out of the water, she rises up in her new Christian life, like Jesus rose from the dead.

Everyone claps, her friend greets her with a towel, and the church sing her favourite song.

Lots of people had lunch together afterwards to celebrate!

“Hi! I’m now nearly 15 and the experience of being baptised will stay with me forever. Mainly because it was so cold! I was officially a Christian, working to make the world know Jesus, the King of coolness.”
