The Value of Being a Christian

What part of the body controls what you do, say, act, and live? Head/brain.

Ephesians 1:22-23 God put everything under his (Jesus) power and made him the head over everything for the church, which is Christ’s body. The church is filled with Christ, and Christ fills everything in every way. Since Christ is the _____, and the church is the _____,what is the main function of the body (church)? _____________________ head, body, To do what the head tells it to do.

Think about all the ingredients of a chocolate chip cookie Think about all the ingredients of a chocolate chip cookie. Would it taste good or right if one or two of the ingredients were missing? No.

parts Look up in your Bibles 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 The church, like our cookie has many _____ (v.12). According to v. 13 what must you do to be part of the body (church)? ______________ parts Be baptized. Whose plan is it that you are part of the church (v.18)? ______ God’s.

Look up in your Bibles 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 Explain v. 21-22 in terms of our youth group: What should all of us be doing when one of us is hurting? Happy? Serving (v.25-27)? Everyone is important. Be hurting, be happy, or serve with them.

What The Church (body) Did.

What was the one thing as a child you would not share with anyone? Look up in your Bibles Acts 2:41-47 List the things these 3000 people did that showed their love for Christ and each other.

v. 42 baptized, devoted to the teaching, fellowship, meals, prayer. v. 44 spent time together, had things in common. v. 45 Sold & gave to those in need. v. 46 met together, ate together, took communion together and were happy together. v. 47 Praised God, enjoyed being with each other, outreach.

If the first church did these things, should we do these same things in our church (youth group) today? Does this passage motivate you to try harder to make our group more like this? What can you do to be more like this?
