In Poland, the "religion" usually refers to Catholicism, as the vast majority of Polish citizens are Roman Catholics. The percentage of Catholics is estimated at 90%, although it may be a number of overvalued, because as Catholics are classified all the baptized, including those who have abandoned the Church. Nevertheless, Catholics in Poland are the largest religious community, and the Catholic religion is even the subject of roll in school (though not mandatory). For the most religious population groups in Poland are Podhale Highlanders and the inhabitants of Silesia.

Form, which possesses a probably the greatest respect in Poland, is Pope John Paul II ( ). His recognition in the country is thanks to his numerous pilgrimages that took place, as well as the openness and warmth. In terms of popularity among Polish youth pope equal s famous musicians and actors. John Paul II is also known as a supporter of ecumenism and the character who played an important role in the collapse of communism in Poland.

Many places in Poland is considered sacred by Christians, especially Catholics. Other popular pilgrimage destinations in the impressive monastery of Jasna Gora in Czestochowa with the miraculous image of Our Lady of Czestochowa. Icon Madonna of Czestochowa attracts thousands of people, especially on 15 August, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. For other centers of pilgrimage in Poland include Lichen, Kalbarri, Krakow Lagiewniki, Lipka, Niepokalanów, Wambierzyce and Mount St. Anne. In Poland, solemnly celebrated many religious holidays, including in particular the Easter and Christmas, as well as All Saints' Day (November 1) and Corpus Christi. Festivities are accompanied by a number of folk traditions and customs, cultivated today.
