Complete an online application for admission to Piedmont Technical College. Begin the Financial Aid process by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Submit your high school transcripts or GED to the Admissions Office. Attend a Health Science and Nursing Information Session. Take the placement test unless waived by college personnel. Completing all the program-ready courses required for your program and meeting the required program-ready GPA.* This will also include, meeting the minimum test score requirement for Nursing and Respiratory programs only. * Refer to Health Science and Nursing Packet for complete details. All students must complete coursework with a “C” or better and have an overall college GPA of 2.0 minimum.

HOBET  Students wanting to enter the Associate Degree Nursing or the Practical Nursing programs must meet the required minimum score on HOBET in order to apply for program entry.  Any student wishing to apply with the Merit Application may take HOBET in order to gain additional Merit points.  More information about the HOBET can be found in the Health Science and Nursing Information Session Packet.  Test dates and times can be found on the Health Science and Nursing Resources website.  Enrollment Limitations: 32 students accepted Fall and Spring semesters  Program-Ready courses:  Anatomy & Physiology I (BIO 210)  English Composition I (ENG 101)  Intermediate Algebra (MAT 102) or Probability & Statistics (MAT 120)  General Psychology (PSY 201)  GPA requirement: 2.5  grades from the Program-Ready courses are used to calculate  Testing requirement: Minimum score of 65% in mathematics and reading sections of the HOBET within four years of application  Additional general education courses:  Anatomy & Physiology II (BIO 211)  Humanities or Fine Arts Elective  A special “Transition Nursing Program” is available for current Licensed Practical Nurses who want to earn their Associate Degrees in Nursing. Students who plan to pursue the LPN to ADN Transition Nursing program upon completion of their PN license must meet the additional biology, math, and humanities/fine art requirements required for the ADN program.

 Enrollment Limitations: 15 students accepted Fall and Spring semesters  Program-Ready courses:  Medical Terminology (AHS 102)  English Composition (ENG 101)  Algebra Competency (as demonstrated by test scores) or Elementary Algebra (MAT 152)  GPA requirement: 2.0  grades from the Program-Ready courses are used to calculate  Additional general education courses:  Introduction to Computers (CPT 101)* *If placement scores indicate a prerequisite need prior to CPT 101, students must take CPT 141 before taking CPT 101. CPT 101 should be completed prior to program entry but can be taken with first semester courses.

 Transfer Students:  Biology and Computer coursework over 5 years old will not transfer to PTC.  Additional general education coursework over 10 years old will not transfer unless the student has completed an Associates degree or higher.  Readmit Students: (PTC students who are inactive for three or more semesters)  Coursework must be reevaluated if it exceeds the five and ten year limits and may not be honored. The same rules apply as they do for transfer students.

 Biology Attempt Policy: Biology courses may only be repeated once to earn a grade of “C” or higher. This includes Biology 102, 112, 210, 211, and PHM 202.  A withdrawal is considered an attempt.  This policy also applies to transfer courses.  If the course attempt is over 5 years old, the student will be granted a third attempt.  Program Attempt Policy: Completion of a health science or nursing program will be limited to two attempts per specific program and three total attempts overall.  The Nursing programs only allow students to repeat one course within the overall program to achieve a passing grade. Two unsuccessful attempts will result in dismissal from the program.  Withdrawing from a course or program is considered an attempt.  Attempts at previous colleges count in your total number of attempts at Piedmont Technical College.  A positive drug screening counts as an attempt and students must forego their right to a third attempt.

I was NOT accepted into the program! Now what? 1 Attend the Program Acceptance Meeting and submit a deposit to hold your seat in your program. 2 Complete and submit the required Health Assessment and immunizations. 3 Attend Program Orientation 1 Complete any oustanding general education courses. 2 Work to increase your Merit score. 3 Apply again at your next opportunity.
