You NEED Your Child to Get Post Secondary Education!!!! We need to explain clearly that the jobs of tomorrow demand post-secondary training. Economic Realities Half of all new jobs in the U.S. will require postsecondary degree. Fastest growth will occur in jobs requiring an associate’s degree. 1/3 of all job openings in the U.S. will require a postsecondary degree. 80% of the top 20 growth occupations in Texas will require education above the high school level. Graduation Plans MINIMUM GRAD PLAN 22 CREDITS Students entering 9 th grade in the school year and thereafter shall enroll in the courses necessary to complete the Recommended (RHSP) or the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP). No student will be permitted to graduate under the Minimum High School Program without parent/guardian and administrative approval. RECOMMENDED GRAD PLAN 26 CREDITS The Recommended High School Program (RHSP) fulfills entrance requirements for colleges and universities in the state of Texas and provides challenging academic courses. DISTINGUISHED ACADEMIC PROGRAM 26 CREDITS The purpose of the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) is to recognize students who demonstrate levels of performance equivalent to college students or to work done by professionals in the arts, sciences, business, industry, or in community services. The DAP requires an additional foreign language credit and four advanced measures. Requires Spanish 3 Requires 4 Advanced Measures which include: * College academic courses and tech-prep articulated college courses with a grade of B or higher. * Test data by which a student receives a score of three or above on the AP exam. * A score on the PSAT that qualifies the student for recognition as a commended scholar or higher by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. * Participation in the National Hispanic Scholar Program of the College Board. * Participation in the National Achievement Scholarship * Program for Outstanding Negro Students of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. * Original research/project. STAAR REQUIREMENT A minimum standard score on all EOC exams must be met.
