DMA at LCC Pilot - Summer 2013 Full Implementation - Fall 2013
Developmental Math NC statewide developmental math redesign 8, 4 week modules, 20 contact hour modules, 1 credit each Crosswalk MAT 060 = DMA 010, 020, 030 MAT 070 = DMA 040, 050, MAT 080 = DMA 060, 070, 080 While this is the accepted CW, some of the skills that are prerequisites for your program may have been shifted to another DMA. We strongly recommend you look at the syllabi to see if prerequisites need to be adjusted. What is DMA?
Currently, we are using ACCUPLACER. The STAC screen will show which DMA credits a student has. If the only math/DMA credit on the STAC screen is an NC for MAT 050, it means that the student must begin in DMA 010. How does a student place into a DMA?
All advisors can register. Fall/spring, 4 week A, B, C, and D terms Seated- day DMA’s, one hour, 5 days a week; 4 DMA’s can be completed in a 16 week semester Seated- evening DMA’s, 2 hrs 40 min, 2 days a week; 3 DMA’s can be completed in a 16 week semester IN sections each 4 week term; 4 DMA’s can be completed in a 16 week semester Summer terms are 2 hour classes, 2 days a week; 3 DMA’s can be completed in one summer. How does a student register for a DMA?
Students must pass each DMA with at least 80%. 10% point is during the second hour of the course. Reteach/retest is available for the final exam in each module. One book to cover all DMA’s. All seated classes will be web assisted with online components (all contact hours will be face-to-face). Final grades are PA or PB = pass, R = re-enroll. DMA Differences
Smaller portions to master before the exam Highly structured daily routine More homogenized course content with all DMA instructors Ability to immediately retake a nonmastered module Ability to begin DMA’s at the start of any of the 4 terms DMA Student Benefits
