6th Grade Teachers Circle the Appropriate Academic Courses Students currently in ALP will be signed into appropriate Honors class by ALP teacher. Students not currently in ALP, but who wish to enroll in an Honors course, must make arrangements to take the test at their elementary school prior to the end of the year. Qualifying students will be placed accordingly. kw 98

Students and Parents should choose 3 elective preferences. If you select Band or Orchestra, please indicate an instrument. Please be sure to select your elective courses carefully.  SVJHS offers Honors Language Arts, Honors Math & Honors Science  Current GPS students: Should test at their elementary. Contact your student’s 6 th gr. teacher for dates.  New to GPS students: Must provide qualifying score on approved test to enroll in an Honors course. (Cognitive Abilities Test ~ CogAT).  GPS will offer summer test date. Check GPS website for details.

Student Currently in ALP at GPS elementary If your student currently participates in ALP at a Gilbert elementary, he/she does not need to retest to register for an Honors course. Student Not Currently in ALP at GPS elementary If your student is not currently in ALP and is attending a Gilbert elementary school, he/she will need to test AT THE ELEMENTARY in which he/she attends. Student from Other District or Charter If your student is coming from another district or charter, he/she will need to have a qualifying score on a state approved test to register for Honors. Gilbert Public Schools will offer a summer test date. Check our GPS website for details.
