Weller & Michal Architects Inc. Fire Department Fire and Rescue Department built in 1945 and was 12 years old in 1957, when Elvis was King. Originally built for the Department of Public Works, converted for fire department in The building has been added onto twice. The site is too small to expand.

Small savings achieved by combining new facilities on one site – the “Joint Facility Option”. –Savings would stem from some shared facility use, shared land use and therefore a smaller site-size requirement, and possibly a reduction in ‘soft costs’ of implementing one larger project rather than multiple smaller projects. Possible savings probably do not outweigh other factors, including relative need and appropriate site considerations –(the Summer Street Fire Department facility is older and less appropriate to current need than the Police Department facility on Grove Street).
