October 2009North American Regional Gathering - Montreal, Canada3 Achievement to date followed up on the nomination and election of the various WAAAUB Standing Committees in 2007 Developed the process of locating nominees for election as alumni representative to the AUB Board of Trustees in 2008 Managed the WAAAUB 2009 nomination and election process Developed the 2009 Election Campaigning policy Established a new process for disseminating the 2009 election results

October 2009North American Regional Gathering - Montreal, Canada4 WAAAUB 2009 Elections Lessons Learned & Recommendations In the 2009 elections the percentage of alumni participating in the election out of the total number of ballots distributed via mail and (35,710 ballots) = 7.12% – Recommendation: Encourage alumni to participate in the election by promoting WAAAUB elections through alumni chapters worldwide The total # of paper ballots received was 281 ballot out of the total # of 16,766 ballots mailed (1.675%) – Recommendation: Based on this low response rate the committee recommended to use the on- line voting only.

October 2009North American Regional Gathering - Montreal, Canada5 Lessons Learned and Recommendations Cont’d Based on the experience of managing the WAAAUB 2009 elections, the committee proposed the following amendments to the WAAAUB bylaws: 1.Define the election campaigning policy in the WAAAUB bylaws 2.The members of the WAAAUB Committee for Nominations shall not be eligible for elections 3.Amend the WAAAUB Board of Directors’ election process so that it will be based on a specific regional quota (similar to that of the WAAAUB Council election process)
