For this subject you will go on a 6 week observation placement (1hr per week) to an early years setting, a health setting or a residential care setting Units Health & Well-Being – June 2014 Exam Promoting Positive Care - Coursework Communication in Care Settings - Coursework

Unit 1 Promoting Positive Care Internal Portfolio/Coursework Internal Portfolio/Coursework This module gives you the opportunity to examine how legislation impacts upon the rights & responsibilities of service users & their carers. You will focus on one care setting to investigate how the staff apply the principles of the care value base.

Unit 2 Communicating in Care Settings Internal Portfolio/Coursework Internal Portfolio/Coursework This module will give you the opportunity to learn & practice communication skills. You will go on work experience to observe communication skills in one care setting of your choice, and evaluate two interactions that you have while there. Unit 3 Health & Well Being External Examination External Examination In this unit you will learn about your health & well- being and the factors which affect it. You will also investigate health promotion and discover the organisations responsible for our health & well being.

A2 Level – Year 14 Again, two-thirds of this year is coursework & one-third is an exam. Units: Providing Services – May 2015 Exam Monitoring Body Systems - Coursework Supporting the Family - Coursework

Module 4 Providing Services External Examination External Examination This module will give you the opportunity to learn about the way in which health, social care & early years services are organised, including the roles of the various practitioners (e.g. GP, social workers) involved in the service delivery.

Unit 5 Monitoring Body Systems Internal Portfolio/Coursework In this unit you will examine the structure, function & control of two body system (Respiratory & Cardiovascular) & carry out a practical investigation in which you monitor four vital signs of two people (e.g. blood pressure & heart beat) Unit 11 Supporting the Family Internal Portfolio/Coursework Internal Portfolio/Coursework In this portfolio you will investigate the functions of the family and explore how family structures have changed. You will then research the wide range of services available to families and discuss the support that they offer.

Work Experience For this subject you will go on a 6 week observation placement (1hr per week) in Sept/Oct 2013 You will go to a care setting of your choice e.g. – –Residential Care Home – –Primary School – –Nursery School/Creche – –Hospital – –G.P. Surgery
