Looking at a sample piece of coursework LI: To create a self evaluation tool, which can be used to reflect and improve your own work.

AO1 Lets look at the marking criteria:

How did Demi do? What marks did you give her? How do you think she could improve? Official moderators comments: “Demi demonstrates a sound understanding of the three causes of additional needs: accidents, environment and disease related. There is evidence of a sound description of the effects of each additional need. She provides a detailed explanation of each stage of the care management process. “ 9/15 (3/3/3)

AO2 Lets look at the marking criteria:

How did Demi do? What marks did you give her? How do you think she could improve? Official moderators comments: “ Demi introduces a case study, Max who is 87 years old and had Alzheimer’s. She does not cover the causes of the disease as this is covered in AO1 however she does give a basic description of the effects. Two practitioners who support the individual are described, namely an occupational support worker (physical needs) and a social worker (emotional/social needs). There is a basic description of the tasks that each perform and a basic understanding of the skills and qualities required by each. Demi has considered partnership working by only provided evidence of a basic nature “ 6/15 (2/3/1)

AO3 Lets look at the marking criteria:

How did Demi do? What marks did you give her? How do you think she could improve? Official moderators comments: Demi produces a basic description that shows a limited understanding of how both the medical and social model of disability would interpret the case study’s needs. There is evidence of both primary and secondary research into the attitudes and values of society towards Alzheimer’s, however there is only a basic analysis of the ways in which the case study’s quality of life has been affected. 4/10 (2/1/1)

AO4 Lets look at the marking criteria:

How did Demi do? What marks did you give her? How do you think she could improve? Official moderators comments: “Demi describes at basic level three possible barriers, for future reference only two need to be addressed. She demonstrates a basic understanding of how barriers restrict the individual. Demi provides a basic description of the methods of support, aids and equipment used by the individual and does not really attempt to evaluate their impact. “ 3/10 (2/1)
