Professional Goals and Resume Patricia Padula CSU Sonoma State B.A International Studies I plan to pursue a career dedicated to environmental and social justice, particularly pertaining to agriculture and the global food system. Through business exposure and hands on experience I hope to gain the knowledge and skill set to create or participate in an institution that embraces sustainable agriculture to address food production and distribution. I would like to achieve this goal by working with organizations that follow or support these ideals, either domestically or internationally. I hope to intern on a farm and work abroad, as well as finding a graduate school program, to further my own education and better prepare myself for my dream career. Attached is my current Resume/CV:

Cultural Experience Patricia Padula CSU Sonoma State B.A International Studies In July of 2012 I had the chance to live and study Spanish in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for a month. I chose Guatemala for its authenticity, student friendly budget, and large amount of reputable Spanish schools. I was fully immersed in Spanish by studying at the Sakribal School of Spanish staying with a very generous family within their home. While in the country I not only rigorously studied Spanish, but was able to explore and travel on my own. Learning to communicate and be open to new experiences, cultures and people were the most important and memorable lessons learned within the short time. Studying in Guatemala strengthened my ties with Latin culture and sparked a newfound passion for travel and adventure. Choosing to take a more independent route for studying abroad I was able to mature and grow personally, and provided an experience that cannot be replicated in the U.S. I hope to continue my education in international travel and include everything I learned into my work and personal life.

Senior Capstone Research Patricia Padula CSU Sonoma State B.A International Studies My senior research project focused on Fair Trade and its effects on the environment, social issues, and the global economy. My coursework and personal interests lead me to use environmental sustainability and agriculture as a lens in which to analyze my findings. In my research I found that alternative methods in food production, like Fair Trade, often times understand and utilize sustainable agriculture successfully. Although alternatives like Fair Trade have limitations and failings, the concept and attitude is moving food production in the right direction. In order to secure healthy food availability for the future, ecological stewardship and sustainable cultivation is critical. I worked on this paper and presentation on a team of three. Choosing to work in group gave me invaluable experience in working collaboratively, committing to meetings and performing under deadlines. I also used available research resources and prioritization to practice independent study. In the end I was able to produce quality work that I am proud of. Attached is my paper and presentation:
