APMPH Overview 7 Advanced Program M.P.H. Program Requires a doctoral-level degree in a field related to public health or be a third year medical student. Intensive 11-month program (typically begins in July) Students concentrate in one of six tracks: - Applied Biostatistics and Epidemiology - Global Health - Health Policy - Social and Behavioral Sciences - Occupational and Environmental Medicine - Preventive Medicine Core courses completed in seven-week curriculum (summer) No summer internship or Master’s thesis

Accelerated MBA/MPH Accelerated MBA/MPH in Health Care Management First of its kind in the U.S. Earn MBA and MPH in 22 months Complete coursework in management and public health Must apply and be accepted to both the School of Management and the School of Public Health 14 course units completed at YSPH Summer internship in the health care industry 8

Global Health Concentration Optional concentration; may be combined with any department Students complete four global health courses Participate in two terms of the Global Health Seminar Complete global health internship (international or domestic) Global health-related thesis or relevant capstone experience (as determined by department). 9

Admission Criteria Standardized Test Scores - Take the exam as early as possible. (i.e. GRE, MCAT, etc.) Personalized Statement of Purpose - Why you are applying and how do your research interests “fit” with that particular area of study at YSPH? Official Transcripts - Transcripts will be required by SOPHAS from ALL courses taken at any institution – this will include summer and non-degree coursework Letters of Recommendation – We require three. If you have been out of school for less than three years, at least one must be academic (someone you took graded courses from). Your recommenders should be able to speak to your academic and research abilities, know your past experience and future goals, and provide examples of your unique qualities. Resume or CV – Work, volunteer, and life experience relays your understanding of and commitment to the profession. Application Deadline – January 15th (we will begin to review completed applications in December)

Work Experience Work/volunteer experience is helpful to applicants, particularly direct experience in public health. What experience is helpful? Volunteer work Community service Research in public health related field Demonstration of leadership Demonstration of a commitment to public health Shadowing or working with public health professionals Demonstration of a clear understanding of public health in the statement of purpose and objectives.

Financial Aid Applying for Aid: Complete YSPH financial aid application (March 1 deadline) Submit FAFSA ( – Yale’s school code is www.fafsa.ed.gov * You will need a copy of your 2014 tax form if applying for the academic year.
