NNED Is Waiting For You... The mission field is right here! Consider the following facts:

Reality #1: * Population of Vermont: 621,760 (09) * Population of Alaska: 698,473 (09) ALASKA A/G CHURCHES: 88 – We call those who go to Alaska to plant churches “Missionaries.” VERMONT A/G CHURCHES 23: – What do we call those who go to Vermont?

Reality #2: * Population of New Hampshire: 1,324,575 (09) * Population of Hawaii: 1,288,198 (08) HAWAII A/G CHURCHES: 76 – We call those who go to Hawaii to plant churches “Missionaries.” (albeit lucky ones!) NEW HAMPSHIRE A/G CHURCHES: 36 – What do we call those who go to New Hampshire?

Reality #3: * Population of Maine: 1,318,301 (09) * Population of New Mexico: 1,984,356 (08) NEW MEXICO A/G CHURCHES: 94 – We don’t think of New Mexico as the Bible belt, yet a significant presence of A/G churches exist here. MAINE A/G CHURCHES: 48 – New Mexico has nearly twice as many A/G churches though not much larger in population.

Reality #4: * Population of Connecticut: 3,518,288 (09) *Population of Oklahoma: 3,687,050 (09) OKLAHOMA A/G CHURCHES: 481 – We recognize this as the Bible belt, but the population is the same as Connecticut. CONNECTICUT A/G CHURCHES: 46 – The East coast represents a significant population area but Connecticut has only 10% as many A/G churches as Oklahoma though a similar population.

Reality #5: * Population of Massachusetts: 6,593,587 (09) *Population of Missouri: 5,987,580 (09) MISSOURI A/G CHURCHES: 454 – Another Bible belt state, but with a population similar to Massachusetts. MASSACHUSETTS A/G CHURCHES: 106 – Massachusetts represents a major area of culture and universities and colleges, a significant area to reach.

Reality #6: * Population of Rhode Island: 1,053,209 (09) * Population of Arkansas: 2,855,390 (08) ARKANSAS A/G CHURCHES: 422 – With 2 ½ times the population of Rhode Island they have a large A/G church presence in the state. RHODE ISLAND A/G CHURCHES: 23 – Though less than ½ the population of Arkansas Rhode Island only has about 5% as many A/G churches.

THE REAL MISSION FIELD: David T. Olson reports church attendance in NNE is among the lowest in the New England states and the Nation: Vermont (6 th lowest) – 11.7% on a weekend service New Hampshire (5 th lowest) – 10.5% on a weekend service Maine (3 rd lowest) – 9.4% on a weekend service ( © 2008 by David T. Olson – 2007 figures)

THE REAL MISSION FIELD: 1. Northern New England: a. Vermont (23) – Alaska (88) b. New Hampshire (36) – Hawaii (76) c. Maine (48) – New Mexico (94) 2. Southern New England a. Connecticut (46) – Oklahoma (481) b. Massachusetts (106) – Missouri (454) c. Rhode Island (23) – Arkansas (422)

FUTURE POSIBILITIES: Some Considerations: MINISTRIES: * Consider Ministry in New England * NNED provides strong relationships among our pastors and churches for ongoing training and resources for successful ministry. * Ongoing training events, boot camps, etc.
