New England Board of Higher Education’s Regional Student Program, Tuition Break for New Hampshire Residents

The New England Board of Higher Education’s (NEBHE) Regional Student Program (RSP) Tuition Break, provides a tuition discount to New Hampshire residents who enroll in approved degree programs at public colleges and universities in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Vermont. how it works

Established by NEBHE in 1957, the RSP has saved New Hampshire residents an estimated $285 million in current dollars. key facts During academic year : Over 3,000 New Hampshire residents benefited. New Hampshire residents saved an estimated $16.2 million. Average annual tuition savings for a full-time student was $6,800.

eligibility Must be a permanent resident of New Hampshire. Enroll in an approved major offered by a state college or university in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Vermont. In some cases students are eligible when an out-of-state college is closer to home than an in-state college. Eligibility is not based on financial need or merit.

approved majors Approved majors are programs that are not offered by New Hampshire’s public colleges or universities, but are offered under the RSP Tuition Break by public colleges or universities in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. New Hampshire residents are eligible for 430 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. application A student applies for regional tuition status by: Declaring an approved major on the college’s application for admission and indicating “applying for New England regional status.” No separate application is required. If already enrolled, a student may request New England regional status through the Registrar’s office. Eligibility for some majors starts in the sophomore or junior year (these programs are footnoted).
