THE TRANSITION FROM COMPLIANCE TO RESULTS Division of Special Education Idaho State Department of Education Division of Special Education

Results Driven Accountability “We have to expect the very best from our students—and tell the truth about student performance—so that we can give all students the supports and services they need. The best way to do that is by focusing on results.” Secretary Arne Duncan RDA Press Release, March 2, 2012 Focus on results! Performance of Students with Disabilities

Statutory Monitoring Focus Primary Monitoring Focus - (20 USC 616(a)(2)) Improving educational results and functional outcomes for all children with disabilities In the past, OSEP’s focus was on ensuring that States meet IDEA program procedural requirements Dramatic shift in OSEP Resources (RRC Closure)

Vision for RDA All components of an accountability system will be aligned in a manner that best support States in improving results for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities, and their families.
