Benefits of Service Learning For Students: Enriches student learning of course material and "brings books to life and life to books". Engages students in active learning that demonstrates the relevance and importance of academic work for their life experience and career choices. Increases awareness of current societal issues as they relate to academic areas of interest. Broadens perspectives of diversity issues and enhances critical thinking skills. Improves interpersonal skills that are increasingly viewed as important skills in achieving success in professional and personal spheres. Develops civic responsibility through active community involvement.

Service Learning Meet the Blazers Meet the Blazers is something the VSU football team does at the being of each season. At Meet the Blazers we taught young kids some of the basics of football:how to catch, tackle and throw.

Service learning Habitat for Humanity Blazer Build The Blazer football team helped rebuild a families home. I taught me to never take anything for granted.

Service Learning – My thoughts I enjoyed the community service that the Blazer football team did this year. This was the first time I have ever done community service. My favorite was the Meet the Blazers because I liked working with the kids. This experience showed me that I really want to be a coach. I want to be a positive role model for children.
